• The Indian Revival Group completes 6 decades of unbroken chain of existence since its inception in 1948
  • The Group’s founder Shri Yog Sunder Desai selected for Sangeet Natak Akademi Puruskar, 2008 for his contribution in the field of dance.
  • It has performed 5000 shows & conducted 250 tours through the length & the breadth of the country.
  • The Group has made significant contribution in revival & promotion of art and culture. It has researched, revived & mastered a rich variety of dance forms of India, paying tributes to the multi cultural heritage of India.
  • The Group performed before the First Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru & First President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad at a command performance at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
  • The Group also performed before Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, Smt.Indira Gandhi, Shri Morarji Desai, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan.
  • The Group recorded the first dance program for Doordarshan.
  • As a Cultural Ambassador, the Group has represented India as an official cultural delegation & participated in numerous Festivals.
  • The Group won awards at the International Dance Festivals in Iraq & Turkey
  • It has undertaken long tours at times lasting over two years at a stretch.
  • The Indian Revival Group has performed in villages, in remote interiors, hills and border areas. It has traveled widely in India with a different outlook, taking art to the common man, instead of confining it to the four-walls of the theatre.
  • The group has performed in schools, colleges, military camps, factories and in rural areas before vast masses of students, troops, labourers & kisans so that maximum people could see at minimum cost.
  • The group has conducted hundreds of lecture- demonstrations for schools and colleges
  • The group was one of the three selected by the Government of India to represent India at the sixth World Youth Festival held at Moscow.
  • In its first tour abroad, the Group received rave reviews in the Egyptian Press with front-page news and photographs.
  • Led by the adventurous & enterprising zeal of its founder, Choreographer Shri Yog Sunder, IRG visited Afghanistan twice on its own and performed 60 shows in Kabul, Kandahar and Herat.
  • The group performed in the villages of Gujarat before villagers who had never witnessed such a performance before & gave them their first performance space by erecting permanent stages which still stand today.
  • IRG performed for the Indian Army under the patronage of General Maneckshaw several times.
  • Empowered with an incredible spirit & enthusiasm of the founder, the Group undertook highly adventurous & strenuous tours to border areas in Ladakh, Sikkim, Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh.
  • Often braving inhospitable weather conditions & inadequate arrangements, the Group performed using oxygen masks & wearing Army boots & jackets, performing on stages created by joining trucks & headlights of the truck providing stage lights!
  • The Group created employment opportunities for countless artistes, who equipped with the training imparted in the group, joined Govt. organizations & schools as dancers, teachers & composers. Some started their own schools training more students & creating awareness of Indian art & culture.
